flip the flipside of the coin
hmmm. this week is slightly more interesting, with slightly a bit more activities going on church.
yesterday, which was Monday evening, was spent at Rock @ 6th floor. was there for the briefing for leaders and servers pertaining to IDU! (for P6s) and EJ4 camps.
and today, which is Tuesday evening, is way more interesting.
reached suntec at around 1700h. went to the Rock Auditorium toilet to shit and to get my hair done. why? honestly, Rock Auditorium has the best public toilet I have ever been into. in every aspects, ranging from hygiene and smell, peace ('cause you wont feel awkward when you hear someone using the cubicle next to you or the urinal in front of your cubicle), and the environment. how i'll always wish i'm at Rock Auditorium toilet when i'm using other public toilets, including the school's. so after that, also sat at the Rock Auditorium soundboard for a while to finish watching Agent Cody Banks 2 DVD.
next, took one thing from FOH to be used for recording, and went up to 6th floor. turned on the system, played with effects a little, and went to eat with Clement. afterwhich, came back up for soundcheck. had a bit of hiccups and stuff, but still manageable lah. and just minutes before service started, there was a request from Pastor Henry to use headworn mic. at first we turned down the request, but decided to do it for him anyway. thank God Clement was around. it was great having him help me out with things such as setting up the wireless system during praise and worship, and the funny craps we talked that evening. haha.
here's the funny thing. during praise and worship, Clement and I had tingling sounds. so we tried to isolate and see where the sound was coming from. haha. Clement said it could be from my effects, but i'd never use effects that give me tingling sounds lor. reverb and delays are my most frequently used. and the "tingling" sound came out to be from the worship leader's mic; Alicia's earrings. i know, -.-
ok. and here's the climatic part.
the day before, i tried to ask for an excuse letter to submit to my school for the week i'd be away at camp. but little did i know, Yvonne, the camp commandant will turn me down from serving because by right, i had school. but i was damn damn damn (to the power of infinity) upset and devastated lah. i thought to myself, all my plans all gone just at the snap of a finger. plans like being able to hang around with Eugene and Jerald, and probably more people, during the camp. plans like trying different tactics in sound mixing, which cant really be done at Rock Auditorium. G-O-N-E! Jason called me soon after that and we had quite a considerable moments of silence. i was hoping that he could produce some miracle, maybe talk to them and make them repent. lol! and probably he was wondering how to console me and make me feel better.
but nothing really helped, until...
when i was still fuming over the fact i can't serve for the camp anymore, i suddenly thought of a plan B.
since i can't serve because i have school and lessons proper, i guess they cant turn me down if i come and serve outside of school hours. so after putting both the camp operations timeline, and my school timetable into my calendar on my laptop, it was indeed a miracle. seriously. i talked to Jason, and he had only to cover mixing for me on Wednesday morning, just one service. on all other times i can be at the campsite. the only thing is that sometimes i'd have to take cab to or fro school and campsite. but it aint a problem, cause can cheong down TPE, fast and cheap.
now come to think of it, with planning and time management, operations for sound can be back to square 1, only that Jason will mix one service for me. *phew* relieved, at last.
